Bill Burke

Executive Director, 5150 Series

Premier Event Management, owned and operated by Bill Burke, is America’s preeminent organizer of multi-sport racing events. The company was formed in 1993 by principals with race management experience dating back to the late 1970s. The core of the Premier team was involved in the production of one of the largest road races in the United States, with more than 30,000 participants and an estimated 100,000+ in attendance at the post-race festival.

Since 1993, the company has produced some of the largest and most prominent triathlons in the sport. Premier has produced and/or timed regional, national, and international championships. Premier currently manages the 5150 Triathlon Series, the Hy-Vee IronKids Midwest Triathlon Series, the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon, the Hy-Vee US 5150 Championship, the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, the Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans event, and the Nations Triathlon from Washington DC, among others. Additionally, Premier has produced numerous Age Group and Elite Championships for USA Triathlon, as well as the 2004 Olympic Triathlon Trials in Bellingham, WA, and Honolulu, HI; the 2005 ITU Age Group World Championships in Honolulu; and the 2008 Olympic Triathlon Trials in West Des Moines, IA.

Bill and his wife Michele live in the New Orleans area with their four children.

Susan McManus

Director of Event Services

Susan McManus has been working on Bill Burke's events team since 2003. In 2009, she joined the staff full time and is now the Director of Event Services in charge of registrations and athlete management. A triathlete herself, Susan has completed the Ironman 70.3 distance, and uses her knowledge of triathlons in dealing with athletes on a day-to-day basis. She is a graduate of McNeese State University and Hallmark Institute of Photography. As a professional photographer she photographs most of the PEM events for use on their website and other industry publications. Susan is currently responsible for Athlete Check-In for the following events: Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans, Escape from Alctratz Triathlon, Washington DC Triathlon, 5150 New Orleans, New York City Triathlon, Nation's Triathlon, Hy-Vee Age Group Triathlon and the Hy-Vee 5150 U.S. Championship. In 2012, she will also oversee the registration and athlete check in of the Hy-Vee IronKids Midwest Triathlon Series.

Rebecca Harmann

Events Administrator / Accounting

Rebecca Harmann began working for Premier Event Management in January of 2002 to manage registration and assist with event preparation for the fastest growing multisport company in the United States. She has helped coordinate some of triathlon’s most paramount multisport events in the U.S. Rebecca’s duties have transitioned from the registration aspect of the business to an accounting position, but her role as Bill Burke’s assistant has always remained constant. Rebecca was born and raised in New Orleans and is a graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School, and holds a degree in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University. When she’s not balancing the company checkbook, she can be found at home juggling duties as a wife and mother to two beautiful daughters.

Michael has been with Premier Event Management since November 2012 and worked many PEM races prior to joining the team full time. His office is located in Des Moines, Iowa working primarily with the Hy-Vee IronKids series as both an announcer and race director. Michael’s attention to detail is an asset for producing IronKids races with perfection.

Roberto Lombilla

Roberto has been with Premier Event Management for the last 5 years and manages all aspects of equipment inventory and the logistics of getting the right equipment to the right event. Roberto manages and supports the entire transition area on race weekend at all of PEM's Triathlon events!

Laura Smidt

Assistant Director of Event Services

Laura grew up cheering on her father in distance running and began participating (slowly but surely) herself in college. She did a summer internship while at the University of Iowa that consisted of organizing a 5 mile race which is when she realized the endurance event industry was her passion. With Premier Event Management she works registration, athlete services and loves dabbing into operations at times. When she's not working races you can find her traveling, playing tennis, running and drinking red wine.

Philip LaHaye

Vice President of Operations, World Triathlon Corporation & 5150 Series Liaison

Philip participated in his first triathlon in 1986 at the age of 13. Since then he has competed in more than 250 triathlons including 18 Ironmans, four of which were Ironman World Championship events in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. He worked his first race in 1988 and  has since been involved in some of the highest profile events in the world,  including multiple Ironman and 70.3 World Championships. Philip has worked Premier Event Management events since 2007, and is the 5150 Series Liason to Premier Event Management. He currently race-directs a number of running and triathlon events including St. Anthony's Triathlon, Operations Manager for the World Triathlon Corporation's Mont Tremblant 70.3 and Ironman events in Quebec, Canada, and is Vice President of Operations for the World Triathlon Corporation.
